Clariant Creates Exotic Effects for Fiji Blend Inc.
When Fiji Blend Inc., Santa Monica, CA, wanted a striking look for its proprietary line of products for indoor skin tanning salons, it turned to Clariant Masterbatches for just the right effect. The design work was handled at the Clariant ColorWorks Technical and Design Center located in McHenry, Ill.

“I had seen a sample bottle that shimmered like jewels,” said Scott Freeman, chief operating officer of Fiji Blend. “That was what we needed. A package you remembered – two days or two years later.”

The Fiji Blend products are packaged in tottles with a wide mouth flip/snap cap. The “Spectrachrome” three-dimensional color flip masterbatches are a red/gold/orange, a blue/green/purple and a bronze/gold/green sparkle. The tottles are a bi-layer structure made of HDPE and blowmolded by Precision Blow Molding in Fullerton, CA. Distribution and project management for Fiji Blend was handled by Tricor Braun in Cerritos, CA.

CCL Container Brings Form and Function to Pierre Cardin Product
When Long Island-based Aladdin Fragrances, a division of The Northern Group, decided to add a post-foaming shave gel to its Pierre Cardin Grooming Essentials line, the packaging demanded more than a traditional container.

CCL Container, Hermitage, PA, supplies an upscale aluminum packaging and its ABS delivery system for both the fashion look and demanding functions necessary. ABS is CCL’s proprietary barrier systems that consists of a hermetically sealed, multilayered laminate pouch, which guarantees separation of product from pressurizing agent.

CCL’s brushed aluminum container has the high fashion look necessary for the upscale line, while the ABS bag-in-can system assures product purity until the moment of use and a consistent delivery of the product. Beauticontrol Chooses Sprayguard
When the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) mandated that products containing 10% or more hydrocarbon emissions must have non-removable or CRC packaging systems by October 2002, certain packaging had to change.

BeautiControl needed a way to get the packaging for its Herbal Body Oil into compliance. TricorBraun was already working on a way to make fine mist sprayers non-removable.

Models were made within two weeks after receiving the order, closures were manufactured and the SprayGuard was submitted to the CPSC for testing and passed with flying colors.
